My Sleep Campaign

In the new year, I have committed to increasing the amount of sleep I get every night. I had far too many nights of 4/5 hours of sleep.

These sleep patterns were often punctuated with insomnia.

Things have turned around, I’m glad to say, although they’re not perfect yet. I regularly get between 6 and 7.5 hours of sleep and I feel like a whole new person!

How, you ask?

First, I started waking up later. Yeah I can get up at 5, but I’m not more productive if I’m tired.

Second, I started going to bed earlier. No more bedtimes after midnight. Actually, I strive to be in bed before 11! More sleep.

Third, I started to journal before bedtime. I write what I’m grateful for, my goals for tomorrow, and the worries I want to release. I pray on those worries. I don’t wake up in the middle of the night anymore knock on wood).

I actually feel really tired now if I only get 6 hours of sleep! That is remarkable.

My next step: move to between 7 and 8 hours of sleep. Stay tuned!
