Lawyers

We have worked so hard in law school and (often) taken on massive debt to make the dream of becoming a lawyer possible. With all of that training, we did not learn how to actually navigate the many parts of practicing law, including taking care of ourselves.

One of the hardest parts about practicing law is actually setting up boundaries with your clients so that you can practice law in a way that makes sense for you.

You may find that you are getting less sleep, have an upset stomach, or are generally tired. All of this is an indication that you need lots of support handling stress. It is a sign that your body is trying to tell you something.

We have this impression that once you earn that license and have a job paying you GOOD money, you are free. Except you are not. You are often at the mercy of your employer. For many of you, that means billable hours and high workloads. And you do the work that is their priority and their clients.

Work takes up so much of our waking hours. For lawyers, far more of those hours than we admit we want. And we often end up phoning it in and wondering when we can be finished doing this work for good. That’s no way to approach the work you trained so hard to do.
