Let me start by saying that I am not a business coach. When you work with enough people who have built significant businesses, there are foundational components they have that move them towards their revenue goals.
And they are the people who many of us choose to follow in these online business streets.
2024 has been a year for me with Resistant Vision to examine the foundations and fundamentals of my business, particularly as I continue with the pivot away from academia and serving lawyers. I’ve done amazing things to get it where it is now, and for me to serve the folk who light me up, I have to do something different.
I built social media strategies to make that happen.
One of those different things was putting much more resource into LinkedIn . . . indeed, it’s a real gathering ground for lawyers. If you follow me on IG (and once upon a time on LinkedIn), you would notice that I would post about what we value at Resistant Vision, how to take care of yourself, and ways we can support women lawyers to create work/life balance for themselves.
When I talk about how we support people, this means what we offer and how we can work with you.
One of my (nifty must I say so myself) offerings is The Path to Work/Life Balance: Tarot and Tapping. It’s designed to uncover the known and unknown blocks to making sure you do the basics, like sleep, get some exercise, and have good sex using both the tarot and EFT/tapping/Emotional Freedom Techniques.
Someone who read my posts on LinkedIn complained that they contained the word tarot . . . it violated community standards. Tarot isn’t a certified skill and can’t be advertised on LinkedIn.
If you’re on LinkedIn, go ahead and search tarot and see how many people advance their tarot services on the platform.
I actually stopped posting about it, but then this person when back in time to my posts and I got kicked off. I did try to get it back and then decided to let it go.
I’m just mad I didn’t get kicked off for cussing someone out . . . I would love to cuss out the person who got me kicked off the platform . . .
The second social media situation to handle was Twitter. I built my business there. It wasn’t challenging for me to have people reach out to me for services there.
And then Musky took it over and did what he does best . . . broke it.
No one saw my posts. I got ZERO engagement on anything.
I stopped posting there regularly.
After the US elections, I deleted all three of my accounts.
Why am I telling you this?
One of the core things business coaches will tell you is that social media cannot be your sole marketing strategy (thank G-d it’s not mine). Why? Because it’s not your house.
In my house, tarot is fine. Not in LInkedIn’s. In Musky’s house, he’s free to share Russian disinformation to throw an election to . . .
Pause . . . let me focus.
In other words, in his house, he can drown everyone’s posts that had nothing toi do with his political agenda with aplomb.
What’s in my house?
MY NEWSLETTER LIST.
When I do talks, I invite people to it. I can communicate with people on my list whatever I want. I can drop an F bomb. I can talk about tarot. IT’S MY HOUSE! You want to cuss me out, you get kicked out of my house.
I tell lawyers about how to care for themselves, I provide professional tips, and I do a post on how we serve clients and why it works. There’s what I call a Resistant Vision post that focuses on political issues and involvement as well.
And yes, I make offers to people to work for me.
I drop f bombs.
I talk about tarot.
This is why business coaches put such a priority on building that list. This is the one thing I am in control of.
So, if you’ve been looking for me on LinkedIn, you won’t find me there. You won’t find me on Twitter either.
If you insist on finding me on social media, here are your options:
However, if you want to guarantee seeing how we serve women lawyers working 70 – 90 hours per week, grab our work/life balance checklist here.
And finally, if you are interested in using both tarot and EFT to uncover why work/life balance is elusive to you, grab my offering The Path to Work/Life Balance: Tarot and Tapping. Know that I will be making a Black Friday offering here if you want to wait until the end of next week.
And if you have your own business, grow your newsletter list! You’ll thank me later.
Blessings.
